Spray from the waterfall splashed onto Raven's face. She felt the water, she saw the fall, she smelt the air. But she couldn't hear the exquisite sound of water flowing. She couldn't hear the birds chirping, she couldn't hear...anything. She was lost in an empty silence. What was the world worth without sound? She loved music, yet couldn't hear it. She was breathing, but she wasn't living. Like actually living. Thank god she wasn't deaf and blind. If she were that, she would've committed suicide.
Raven sighed and scratched her ear. Another splash sprayed her face. She pawed the ground, and then began to look around. Any shelter around here? She thought. She began to walk around the falls. She looked about and noticed a small opening in the rocks. She smiled, slightly and walked over to rocks leading to it. She jumped up one rock at a time and made it to the entrance. She lay down and felt the burning sensation of an oily tear. She sniffed, and then rubbed it away.
"I hate my life." she said simply, unable to hear what she had. But knew what her tone was, and that she was whispering it with the slightest amount of a groan. She knew that because that's the way she had said it in her head. Raven got up and kicked some stones, watching them fly through the water. It would've been a miracle if she all the sudden was able to hear. Really, she thought she had heard something, but it turned out she was thinking of something. She moaned, and sat down with a thud. "Stupid life!" She shouted, at least that what she thought she did.
