Iced away

Nicarra slowly tramped through the forsaken woods. she shook with a slight chill but-'It's not that bad.'- went through her mind. she hardly noticed the cold. She didn't care to anyway. It was an obstacle, of course, but it could be beaten. she glared ahead to a river. Most of it was covered in ice, but some parts seeped through. 'How gross.' she thought. Nicarra noticed how dark it had become. How she had not noticed-she didn't really know. But she knew she couldn't go on. The river didn't look so stable. Water dripped on her head. She felt an icy cold seep into her head, like a sponge. She looked up and saw big fat rain drops fall down from the darkening grey sky. Nicarra noticed it froze as it touched the trees. eep... she thought. The ice rain fell along with shards of snow. Nicarra began running across the river. She didn't know why, but didn't stop. Her foot lost it's footing as it fell down into the freezing lake. She growled and ripped it out. She couldn't feel- as her paws began growing numb- her raw skin under the fur, and cold blood running down her feet. She could tell though, that her steps began lagging and she slowed down as the blizzard erupted into place. Nicarra stood ridged as the ice and snow wept around her. It felt like tiny needles coming from the depths of a freezing ocean were stabbing her all at the same time. Soon, she fell and let the snow bury her.

Zander was wandering through the frozen forest. The rain from last night had frozen over night and left a layer of ice over everything. Just then, he stepped on something soft. Looking down he saw what looked like the tip of a tail sticking out of the Ice and snow. Alarmed, he started digging out what looked like a female wolf. He nudged her to see if she was alive. "Hey, you ok?" He pushed her over with his shoulder. "Hello-o!"

Niccara heard a shout. As she opened her eyes, she noticed how much her head hurt and how feeding she was. She whimpered and Nuzzled to the near warmth. Her eyes were almost frozen shut.

Zander cuddled up to her, sharing his body heat, and licked her face to melt the ice. "Hey there. Your ok." He finished licking the ice off her face, then started on the fur on her neck.

Nicarra returned to consciousness. She opened her eyes and slipped out. "Who are you?" she asked, stepping back caustiosly. Nicarra winced at the pain shooting up her legs.

"Careful! You could have frostbite! " seeing her wince in pain he said "see? Frostbite. " He nudged her to get her walking. "Come on, let's get you out of the snow. There is a nice snow free tree hollow not to far from here." Then remembering her question, he said, "my name is Zander."

Nicarra sneered, but shivered inwardly. She sighed, hating being wrong. "OK." she said grudgingly.

Zander smirked and helped her through the thick ice to the tree hollow. It wasn't much but it blocked the wind and rain and kept the snow out. The two of them barely had any space to move. "Sorry, it's kinda small" he said apologetic.

Nicarra shivered a bit. Her metallic baby blue eyes stared at the ground. She didn't say a word. Zander had saved her life... It was only courteous to tell him her name. She looked up. "I know you didn't ask...but my name is Nicarra." she said. Narrowing her eyes, she turned to look back outside.

Zander curled up next to her and asked, "sooooo, nicarra, what made you decide taking an ice cold snow nap was a good idea? Hmm?"

Nicarra narrowed her eyes at him. "I didn't take a nap." she growled, glaring at him. 'Tch, idiot.' she thought bitterly.

"well how else did you end up in the snow? did you trip?" zander said teasingly.

Nicarra held back her annoyance. "If I had tripped, I would've gotten right back up. Then, I never would've met you." she said smugly, swishing her tail. "obviously I went stiff, and the cold took me out. In that case...I guess I can say thank you. But your questions are making me take that back!" she hissed.

Zander burst out laughing. "Wow, it's so easy to ruffle your fur! Wolves like you are so fun to tease! " He smirked and flicked her with his tail, amused by her grumpy attitude.

Nicarra glared him before smacking him hard in the nose. She got up and walked outside, kicking snow into the males face. "SO MUCH FOR THE THANK YOU!" she snarled before trotting off, her white fur soon blending into the snow.

Zander laughed softly, then trotted after her following her silently.

Nicarra heard him by the crunch of snow. She rolled her eyes. "Just detour him." she muttered to herself. With that she begun running, her fur blending into the snow. She made tracks going everywhere, before hiding behind a rock, far away. Her fur was even better hidden when a clump of snow fell when wind began blowing.

Zander started laughing.. "Oh, hide and seek! My favorite game!" He looked at all the footprints everywhere. Well if he couldn't find her by footprints then he would find her by scent. He put his nose to the ground and started tracking her down. He was having entirely too much fun

Nicarra was getting sick of this. She hated wolves like this. She thankfully. She had left false scents in her desperateness to be alone. Slowly she edged out of her hiding place and continued walking, and felt oddly hungry. Zander was just asking for a death wish if he kept at this. The best thing for him to do was leave alone. 'Most people who run away from rude people want to be alone.' she thought. The thought made her smirk. She stopped and narrowed her eyes. If he wanted to play, she would play.

zander was getting confused by the scents. they were everywhere! at this point his only shot was to climb a tree and hope to catch a glimpse of her. he started to wonder why he was putting up such an effort to find this grumpy she-wolf who obviously didn't like him. he ignored the thought and climbed up a tree and looked around. he saw a flash of movement out of the corner of his eye and leapt through the trees, hoping it was her and not an animal.

Nicarra crouched in the snow, covering herself with it. There, she thought up her plan.

zander ran through the snow to the spot where he saw movement. but he was too late. whatever had been there had disappeared. then he scented nicarra's scent again a tad fresher this time. smiling in triumph, he followed the fresher scent to a pile of snow. he crouched down, then pounced on the snow and her rolling them out of the pile and out into the open. "Ha, found you!" he said, his tail wagging.

She smirked came out. "So you did. That was fun no?" she asked, walking past him. She swished her tail, snow crystals swirling up gracefully. "I was wondering when you'd find me." she said.

zander laughed. "yeah, you through me for a bit but I got lucky." he got up and shook the snow out of his fur.

Nicarra faked a laugh (But it was hard to tell) and walked on.
