Ragnarok's Life

Sun streamed into the barn. A black and tan wolf lay buried in the hay.
His head shot up as he snapped awake at the sound of a whistle. He yawned, his tongue lolling and tail wagging. He trotted out and sniffed the air.
"Reggie!" A deep, distant voice called, and the owner of the voice whistled again, the sound faint and far away.

The wolf streamed out of the barn, racing over the hills at the sound of his master's whistle. The farmer stood waiting at the gate of the sheep pen.

"Go herd them into the fields, boy!" the farmer grinned.


The wolf was Ragnarok. He was found shivering and dying on the streets. A kind farmer took him in, and raised him like a sheepdog.


Now, Ragnarok grinned and ran into the pen, chasing the sheep out. He ran round them in a semicircle, snapping at their heels. He ran up and down the left of the flock, then headed to the back and nipped the slowest ewe, and the sheep poured into the field like a river. Ragnarok stood up on his hind legs and closed the gate.

"that'll do!" grinned the farmer. "good work! " He walked to the house, Ragnarok at his heels, and ate his breakfast while Ragnarok waited patiently by the door. The farmer rubbed his head and tossed him two lamb steaks and a leg of deer, then added - sadly - some vegetables.

Ragnarok at his breakfast and chewed his bone, then got up and took a walk to the neighbouring farm.

Ragnarok walked into the farm with an old wolf, then lay down in the grass by the house.

Star stood, shifting her weight off from her bad leg. She stood alert and aware of everything.

Ragnarok smiled. "no need to be tense. My folks are nice." He headed to the barn. "Follow me."

Star looked and hesitated, then slowly followed.

The farmer strolled out of the house. "Brought a friend, have you?" He asked the wolf. Ragnarok wagged his tail.

star stared up at the farmer with narrow eyes, ready to fight if needed.

The farmer grinned at Star and tossed her a hunk of lamb, then whistled for Ragnarok to follow him into the fields.

After ragnarok was done with his work, he headed off to explore.

Star looked down at the meat like a person does with chopped liver. She sniffed it to see if it was safe then took a small bite.

Ragnarok turned. "hey, i'll be at Yellowstone. Bye! If you don't wanna follow me, my folks will take care of you." he trotted off again.

Star watched. She thought for a secont the followed slowly.
