Shapes in the Mist

The timber fae rolled her eyes and almost shot back with a sarcastic remark, but stopped herself. She didn't need to stir anything else between them. With a tired huff, the wolf turned to start trotting forward again. She pricked her ears as their paws snapped through sticks lying in her path. Ash slowed down when she caught small whisper coming from the mist. She pulled her ears back a little, and she lifted her tail to signal Ghost to stop. 'What now? I don't need another travel buddy. Being by myself would have just been find, Lupus!'

Ash caught another noise, this time it was a growl. 'Eh? Do you hate me now? I don't need a fight either! I've had enough of those hot-heads!' The timber fae closed her eyes with a twitch. She stifled her growl and snorted loudly. "Look. I've had enough action for a day. So if you would just come out, that would be wonderful." She said opening her solid blue tinged eyes. Her face became neutral, but her gray eyes narrowed in suspicion.

Ghost was caught off guard by Ash's sudden stop, he stepped back a bit, not sure what to do.

The timber fae tensed as a black figure emerged from the mist. She heaved an exasperated sigh as the wolf started to act awkwardly. "I never asked what you were growling at..." She mumbled with a tired expression plastered to her face. The brown fae glanced back at a surprised Ghost and shook her head to reassure him. "Calm down he probably won't kill us." She didn't say it to scare him, but to be honest, she didn't know whether or not he would kill them. Ash stared at the wolf from the corner of her vision to keep him in check.

Ash raised an eyebrow. 'That evil? It makes you a little more suspicious if you say it that way.' She plastered on a neutral mask and replied in a monotonous voice. "This one here says he's lost. To be honest, I didn't have any destination in mind." She blinked slowly at him.

Ghost stepped back further, "I don't like this Ash, we should just go around."

The dark brown wolf didn't seem to have a working brain. 'You think I didn't know that?! Saying it out loud will just make this guy more suspicious!' However, Ash kept herself calm. "There would be no need to cripple you in that way." She dipped her head and blinked thoughtfully at the black wolf. "We'll get out of your way." The timber wolf began padding forward without waiting for an answer.

Ghost stood stock still, even the self arguing stopped, the only noise that could be heard was his nervous breathing. In a soft voice he spoke quietly, "Ash, this isn't good. Let's just go back."

Ash shot Ghost a cold look with a message. 'C'mon you idiot! If your so insistent on getting a move on follow me.' Then the timber fae turned to her other side to address the black wolf. "Usually wolves with territories would be less lenient than how you're acting." She said slightly narrowing her icy tinged eyes. "But like I said, you don't have to go so far for two strangers." She said, before padding forward into the mist again.

Midnight smirked. "Not my territory. So... I really wouldn't mind." But he flicked his tail and turned to Ghost. "Good day." he said. Then silently walked away. "I know this place like the back of my paw, you will get lost sooner or later." he said, smirking.

Ghost's gaze followed the strange wolf as he departed, he then turned and followed Ash.

The timber fae snorted, but she refrained from growling out loud. 'There's no point. I'd just be dragged into his taunting.' Her tail lashed like a whip as she stalked away. Her long limbs moved quickly and efficiently through the brush. She didn't seem to care whether or not she left Ghost behind.

Ghost picked up the pace, not wanting to be left behind.
