Midnight smiled. "Thank you. I've never really sang before." he said. He looked down and sighed. Now, I really don't want her to leave. he thought sadly.

GRRRRRRR! Why do I have to leave! Jasmine thought. "How far is the border?" she asked. I hope it's far away. she thought.

Midnight sighed. "Not far, but not close either." he said. He wished it was far, far away though. You know you can just postpone the trip? he thought. But, I promised I would get her out of here. he thought. well not really. he thought, he argued in his head for quite some time.

" Yessss!!!!!!!" she said quietly under her breath. Then she looked over at Midnight to see if he had heard.

Midnight was too busy arguing with himself to notice Jasmine's joy. He heard a silent whisper, but not the word. "What was that?" he asked.

" Nothing." Jasmine said trying not to blush.

Midnight shrugged. "OK." he said. Suddenly, he stopped. A huge snake was in front of them. "Don't move a muscle." he said through a clenched jaw. The snake slithered slowly in front of them.

" What's wrong?" Jasmine asked also through a clenched jaw.

"Snake." he replied. Midnight slowly backed up. The snake slithered passed them. Midnight sighed.

" Are you afraid of snakes or something?" Jasmine asked with a chuckle.

"Not at all." he sneered. He looked past the mist. "I know that type of snake. They are freakin' poisuness." He explained. He then began to walk.

" Ooo, I didn't know that it was poisuness. My hero." Jasmine said to Midnight. She started to blush again.

Midnight smiled. "Thank you." he said. Midnight then started walking by Jasmine's side rather than in front of her.

Midnight smiled sadly. "Me too." he said. He sighed, "well, that's the border."
The border was a stone wall. A couple of rocks had fallen off, creating a big opening. "Well, I guess this is good bye." he said. He looked away and bit his lip.
Outside the border was a big golden field of grass. "Hey, maybe I'll see you in the holidays." he said, trying to be happy.

" Yeah, i'd love to visit. Do you want a hug before I go?" She asked hoping he would say yes even though she knew he didn't like them.

Jasmine hugged Midnight. " Goodbye." Jasmine said as she walked through the opening.

"good bye." he said as she left. He turned to leave and started walking home. How can you fall in love with someone in a day? Then lose them the next. He passed the place they saw the snake. Love comes at much to high a cost. he thought bitterly.

Jasmine's heart was pounding. " How did Jacob find me?" she asked herself. She went through twists and turns and finally lost him. "Fweeew!" Jasmine said as a sigh of relief. " I have to find Midnight. He cant be too far." Jasmine ran and ran until she finally found Midnight. " Midnight! Hey! Jacob found me!" Jasmine yelled breathlessly.

Midnight looked at her confused. "Um... he was looking for you?" he asked. great you got you boyfriend back. he thought bitterly. "What did he do?" he asked.

" I don't know if he was looking for me. He scratched my other hind leg! He said he was gonna kill me! I think he was still mad!" Jasmine said frightened.

Midnight glanced ahead. He growled. "Don't worry, I won't let him hurt you. Your my friend." he said, looking at her. With that he leapt forward and bounded the way Jasmine had came. His big but swift body glided through the forest effortlessly. He slipped under a tree, jumped over a log. He never tripped. He skidded to a stop and came face to face with another wolf, a little smaller than him. He snarled.

Jasmine bounded after him. " Jacob, just leave." Jasmine tried to say without he voice cracking. " No! So, who's the big black furball over here,huh? " Jacob said in a growl. " He's none of your business!" Jasmine yelled. " Well, I guess I'll have to beat it out of you!" Jacob yelled as he swiped at Jasmine's neck, leaving her bleeding on the ground.
