Midnight snarled with rage. "How dare you hurt her!" he howled. He lunged forward and body slammed Jacob. He jumped onto him and pinned him down. Midnight growled. He clamped his jaws onto Jacob's an bit down hard. I can easily beat him! He's so weak! He thought. Midnight bit down harder.

" Grrrrrraaaaaaaaaa!!! Get off!" Jacob yelled as he pushed Midnight off into a tree. " You're so dead!" Jacob yelled as he bit Midnight's hind leg.

Midnight pushed Jacob over. "What in the world could you do to me!?!" He barked. He ripped open Jacob's shoulder with his wickedly sharp fangs. He stepped back, shielding Jasmine the whole time. He growled furiously and jumped onto Jacob, knocking Jacob off his feet. He jumped off, putting pressure onto Jacob's stomach.

" You'll never kill me" Jacob said running out of air. Just then, Jacob bit Midnight on his paw sending him to the ground. "I told you, now Jasmine, It's your turn." Jacob said walking past Midnight.

Midnight stood up. He snarled and pushed Jacob off his path. "Your an idiot to think your hurting me!" He said. He lunged forward sending Jacob and himself rolling down a ditch. He pushed Jacob into the ground, holding him down by his neck.

Jacob ran out of air. He let out a last breath and lay there dead.

Midnight knew he was dead, but he wasn't finished. He ripped open Jacob's neck, then scratching his right eye. He got off of Jacob and walked up to Jasmine. He hauled her onto his back. He lumbered his way to his cave. He slowly lay her down. Midnight lay down by her. "You're not going to leave. I won't let you." he whispered.

Midnight bit his lip. "It can't end like this... Jazz." he whimpered. He got up and grabbed some cotton balls from his human collection. He dabbed the on the wound of Jasmine. He wrapped gauz around her neck. "I won't let you die." he said furiously. He knew what everything in his collection was and how to use them. Midnight lay down by her side. You can't die!

Midnight shook his head. For the first time, he felt powerless. "No, no, no, Don't die! Don't die!" he growled. His heart ached with pain. "You can't die! I- I- I love you too much, I can't let you die!" He said. He stood over her, he was powerless. Canus please don't let her die! Please Canus spare her! He pleaded.

Jasmine's breaths were so slow it looked like she wasn't breathing. Canus, please let me have one more day with him. She prayed.

Midnight couldn't stand it anymore. He walked outside. His first tear ran down his face. He howled for the first time.
love is to costly
You can't run away
From the hurt
I just wished I didn't have to feel the pain
Of losing something forever
I never asked for this
I wish that there was a way
To escape.

Why dear old Canus? Why? I never wanted it to end this way.

Midnight dropped to the ground. His body racked with tears.

Jasmine saw Midnight crying outside. She had some of her strength back. She got up and went to Midnight. She started to lick the tears off his face. "Everythings gonna be ok. I'm still here." Jasmine said to him calmly.

Midnight looked up. "Jasmine?" he said. THANK YOU CANUS!!! He thought. Midnight smiled joyfully. "You're alive!" he said. He got up and nuzzled her. "You, are never leaving my left eye sight ever again young lady." He said sternly, like he did when they first met. He laughed.

Midnight nodded. "Only to you." he said. Midnight smiled. Because, you're the only one I ever truly love. He thought. He wagged his tail.

" You are just awesome-sauce!" Jasmine said with a silly face. Jasmine ripped of the guaze. " Look, all better." Jasmine said with a smile.

Midnight grinned. "good." he said. He nuzzled her and smiled. "You are a strong wolf." He said. He stepped back. "A ravishing wolf I'd say." he said, smiling.

" Why thank you kind sir." Jasmine said with a bow. " And you are a brave fluffy wolf! How do you get your fur so soft?" She asked with a smile.

Midnight thought. "Do you want to hunt?" he asked. He was hungry. He sniffed the air picking up the scent of a lost buck. He looked at Jasmine and smiled.

Midnight caught up to her, and ran by her side. "We're getting closer. We should surprise it shall we?" he asked. A buck came into view. Its horns stuck in brambles. "Never mind. It's helpless." he said chuckling.
