Frostbitten Paws

Ice nodded and flexed her paws, noticing they had gone numb. "Yes." she said. She yawned.

As the femora looked up, she tilted her head slightly at Ice. "Are you hungry? We could go for a little hunt." Her stomach rumbled gently. Out here, especially during winter, it seemed it was one hunt after another. You had to constantly fight for your life, and hunt for the prey you ate. It was hard living, but Arrow had made it through with good results.

Ice nodded. "I lost my food to a bear. Life sucks." she joked.

Arrow laughed lightly at the joke. "Alrighty, then." She stood up, climbing to her paws. Her ears swiveled out as she listened to the sounds that lay just beyond the cave. "Shall we split up or stick together? If we stay close to each other, we can bring down some large prey. If we split up, we'll probably only get hares." Her ears were now flattened back to her skull as she remembered the snow had forced most prey into their burrows.

Ice cosidered her words. What good was a hare in the staved clutches of winter. She looked back at Arrow. "Two is better than one." she said, implying the fact that they should stick together.

"How wise of you," Arrow said with a smirk. "Sounds good to me. Shall we go, now?" The white pelted fae climbed to her paws and walked out of the den entrance, waiting by the front for Ice.

Ice jumped down and padded up to Arrow. She nodded and began trotting briskly.

Arrow fell silent as she began trotting off deeper into the forest, making sure she was stepping lightly. Her ears swiveled out and her luminaries glistened as she looked around in search of prey. She looked over at Ice and lowered herself, her claws digging into the chilling snow.

Ice crouched low. Her light blue markings markings seemed to make a hypnotic trance. Her eyes stared deep into the woods. She sniffed, and padded forward. She smelt a trace of blood, freezing in the winter air. Her pupils dilated and she flicked her. "This is going to be easier than I thought."

Arrow froze, her eyes closing as her senses came alive. She took a deep breath, inhaling the freezing cold air. Her eyes flashed open, and she felt energy pulse through her body at the thrill of a hunt. "Hare," she said in a hushed whisper, no emotion coming from her calm tone. She couldn't contain her excitement and thirst for an animal's blood anymore. The scent grew stronger. Her hunger grew by the seconds she waited. Then, she  leapt, claws extended as she lunged into the forest, lightning fast. Her tail whipped behind her and her paws moved up and down rhythmically, nothing in her path to stop her. Hopefully Ice could catch up in time to corner the creature. Trying to focus on the kill and only the kill, she continued racing along, kicking up snow as she went along. As the fae finally burst into the clearing, she spotted the hare. Her jowls parted and she lowered her cranium, ready to snap the rabbit's neck.

Ice had proceeded as soon as Arrow had lept from the ground. Her icy swirls would've been the only thing you would be able to see. She zipped past Arrow and threw the hare up into the air. She then jumped up and swatted it towards Arrow. Ice heard the rabbits rib-cage crack. Her eyes went back to size as she hit the ground. A puff of snow flew into the air.

Snarling, energy surged through her limbs. She caught the shrieking hare mid-air, landing onto the snow. The cool substance flew over her paws as she made contact with the ground. Arrow thrashed her head to one side, snapping her meal's neck. She let it go, blood dripping onto the white snow. She sniffed as a soft breeze blew through her silver coat. "That was rather easy. We make a pretty good team." She smiled slightly. Placing her muzzle over the hare, she bit off a half and tossed it to Ice. She lowered her neck to the ground and ate the other half.

Ice smiled. "We do, don't we?" she said. She ate the hare and sighed after finishing it in two bites. 'What if hares were bigger, like deer?...no that's a stupid thought.' she thought. She shook the idea off as if it were rain. She smiled and sat down. She yawned and looked at the patch off blood seeping into the snow.

She shrugged with a chuckle. "It isn't exactly a stupid thought. More of a.... unique one. I think they wouldn't be on a predators' 'to-eat' list then, that's for sure. With those legs? Heh. They would demolish us." She licked her chops and looked back up at the other wolf.

Ice nodded. "Yeah...that's probably why they were made to he small." she said, flicking her tail.
