Jack & Nalie

Jack sat in the ally with his sister, observing as the light shined off the knife he held. "Were out of food." Nalie said as she rummaged through her backpack. Jack sighed and nodded. "Were also out of money." She added. Jack shook his head.

OOC: May I join with my character Bre Tanner?


Bre walked by the ally. Then she heard kid voices. She peeked into the ally. She heard the girl state they had no money. She shook her head. That's why you have jobs. She thought.

Nalie looked around for Jacks sheath. "You need to put that knife away, you'll cut yourself." She scolded. Jack raised his head and looked at his sister with tired eyes. "We should probably go somewhere. I don't like that were still here, with the risk of someone finding us." He said as he stood and started for a crate. He set down his knife and went to sit by Nalie. "We don't have money, but if we leave for a different place we wont need money." He said. Nalie had a question clearly shown on her face. "But where would we go where we need no money?" She asked. "To the wild." Jack replied."We could hunt for food, and everything in your pack would help." They talked without noticing the girl listening to their conversation.

Bre snickered at the boys comment. "Ya'll should know that although it looks easy there are a lot of predators that aren't easily swayed by one knife. If ya'll have no money, and no place, I could help you." she said. I feel like a dumb idiot right now. They probably won't accept my offer. Well the girl might, girls are smarter than boys. "Tell you what, I could pay you to do some stuff. And if you think you've earned enough, you could be on your way." she said, appealing to Nalie.

Jack and Nalie jumped to their feet when the girl spoke. "Nalie, I told you people would find us." Jack said quietly. "I thought I chose a good place. Sorry." Nalie replied. Jack looked at the girl who spoke. "We don't work for a reason." He said, presuming she heard them talking. Nalie stepped over to the crate Jacks knife was sitting and grabbed the knife. She stepped back to hide behind her brother.

Bre shrugged. "OK, I'll be on my way. I live by the woods. It'd be an easy escape but, if you don't want to..." she said. She turned to walk away, not looking back.

"If the work wont let anyone know were here, well take it. I didn't deny your offer, I just stated the obvious." Jack said as he grabbed his knife from Nalie and sheathed it. "Really?" Nalie asked. "Im not a total let down." Jack shrugged.

Bre smirked, reverse phycology always works. She thought. "OK, my car's over there. and no, it won't reveal your presense." she said turning around. She turned towards her car and added, "runaways."

"Teknicaly we aren't runaways." Jack said. Nalie nodded her agreement.

She unlocked her car. The black sports car beeped. She shrugged. "Then, why don't you wanna be found?" she asked, opening the car door.

"Because we don't want to be separated, especially for the fact our parents are dead." Jack said as he walked out of the ally. Nalie followed at a slower pace, looking around cautiously.

Bre looked at them. "I'm very sorry about that." she said. She got into her car and started it. She looked at them. "C'mon, you don't want to be seen do you?" she asked, closing her door.

Jack opened a door and let Nalie in. Jack followed her in and closed the door. "Is this wise?" Nalie thought.

Bre turned up the radio. "So, I'm guessing you don't want to be adopted by two seperate families right?" Bre asked, as she drove down the street. She turned into a narrow dirt road.

"No we don't." Jack said as Nalie nodded. "Do you normally refuge orphans just for manual labor?" Jack joked as Nalie stifled a laugh.

"No." Bre laughed. "Very funny, um.. what are your names?" Bre asked, yawning. She passed a sign that said, Welcome to Sunset hills. She pulled up to a cabin, shining a light on the distant trees as she turned. She turned the car off and sighed. "Well this is it. It's not much, but it's nice." she said gesturing to her place. She opened the door, and stepped out.

“Im Jack, and shes Nalie.” Jack said as they exited the car.“Nice place. Whats your name, scince you asked ours.” Jack asked.

"Thanks. Those are nice names. My name is Bre Tanner. Just call me Bre.." she said. She walked up the stairs to her porch, and fumbled with the keys to her house.

"Okay Bre."Nalie said quietly.

Bre smiled as she flung the door open. She walked into her home, the fireplace roared, but was the only light shining. She flipped on the lights. It illuminated the small, living room with a built in kitchen. Stairs led up to the three-room lofts. She walked back outside. "C'mon, the moths might get in!" she shouted.

Nalie slowly walked ahead of Jack and into the house. Jack stayed outside and looked out to an unknown point. "Ill go inside later..." He said as he pulled out his knife and turned it in his hands.

Bre smiled at Nalie. "OK." she called. She went inside and shut the door. "Are you hungry?" she asked.

"A little..." Nalie said quietly.

Bre walked to the kitchen. "What are you craving today?" she joked, opening the fridge.

"Could I have an apple? If you have any..." She said as she followed Bre into the kitchen.
