searching

Icegaze searched around the area, smelling for other wolves. when she got a scent, she howled. All she wanted was a mate and a home. She sat there, waiting for a reply.

It had been several months now from that day so long ago, winter gone and the pups growing stronger everyday. It had been a long time since the sound of another wolf had risen in the cold evening air besides the songs of the pack itself that at first it seemed foreign to him. He was in the middle of playing with the three pups who were now fur balls that were nothing but mischief at this age, his ear twitched side ways and he rose. The pups knew something was different and began their tiny little yaps to indicate as well such a thing to warn the pack. He quickly made his way out of the den to raise his nose to the still frost bitten air trying to find the scent of the one who had drawn his attention outwards. He threw his head back and drew out a soft song full howl to indicate there was a pack who inhabited these parts. His tone dropping to fade as his head twisted and his ears perked again to listen for the response.

Icegaze heard the response and ran towards the sound. once she saw the male and pups she aproached slowly.
"Hello kind sir, are you the one who answered my call?"
She smiled gently as the adorable pups played amongst each other.

He nods having noticed the little things had followed him outside, he starts to nose them towards the den where their mother lay probably already on her way out to fetch them. They seemed like an absolute paw full even to the large silver gray wolf who seemed like otherwise he would be in a very assertive state but was over powered by three youngsters who wanted nothing more then to cause him trouble. "Yes....I am...Hey that's my toe!" He picked up his front left paw as the toddler fell to the ground having been hanging on with those sharp razor like teeth youth get right before their adult teeth came in.

Icegaze giggles, watching the baby play with his father. Then she sighs, wanting some of her own one day.
" hi, my name is Icegaze. I was wondering if i could stay here a while. Is that alright with your lovely pack?"
She stares into his eyes, sensing he was a nice wolf with a superior rank. She bowed ever-so-slightly as to show respect and loyalty.

He nods, listening to her as his eyes kept focus on the brood of babes that seemed only to want his attention. "Mhm, I wouldn't see any harm in you staying amongst us...must be a good sign. Wolves coming back here, means spring has to be on its way along with the herds. Would you knock it off!?" He chuckles at the round black girl who was bigger then her littler black sister, she was currently gnawing at his ankle now. The other red fox looking boy was inching dangerously close to the edge and his father grasped the scruff of his neck to keep him from going any further. He looks up with his silver moon orbs at the wolf with an apology held in his eyes he muffles out a sorry from behind the fluff of his son who was now pawing at his fathers eyes.

"Oh they are so cute!" she laughed at the little boy playing with his fathers eyes. She smiled at the fact she had a home, at least temporailly,

Mystery finally slinked out from behind the shade of the den, a warm smile held on the femme's muzzle as she emerged into the spring air. The mistresses ebony bodice glided gracefully over behind the silver brute, a soft murr escaping the fae so she wouldnt startle her mate with her approach. Chuckling as the pups picked on him she nibbled on his hip for a moment before moving to wrap her maw gently but firmly around the little red trouble maker's nape and picked him up off his father. "Come er' you." She chuckled into his fur, plopping her frame down onto the terra and setting him down gently onto to put her paw over him for a moment so he could move while she reached over and retreived his older sister. The larger, inky girl grumbled but the two soon calmed down a bit as Mystery set her crown down, letting them nibble on her audits. The third pup sat innocently beside her Daddy's fore, the tiniest and the Daddy's girl as she gazed up at the stranger.

Icegaze looked at the beautiful mother of the pups.
"Hello ma'am, I'm Icegaze. I believe I will be bunking here for a while."

The silver brute smiles, murring as he felt his mate slide up along side him and was grateful for the fae taking their son from him. He looked around to find the other as he had been set on paying attention to the two trouble makers before he found her sitting beside his fore watching the stranger. He fights a grin as he listened to the new femme speak with his mate, already hearing the respect in her voice from the term she used to address his beloved. He licks the crown of the tiny one to let her know daddy hadn't forgotten about her before he turned to lick his mates neck in gratitude for the help in taming the little ones.

smiles once again at the pups, wishing for a mate. "oh well" she thought to herself. she saw the love between mystery and kihyah and could not help but grin. one day, she would find one too.

"Pleased to meet you Icegaze. Im Mystery, dont be afraid to make yourself at home." The mistress breathed, her soft feminine voice warm and inviting to the other fae as her tassle swayed gently along the terra. It had been awhile since they had seen a newcomer and the new face was nice to see. "Ow.. Gentle with Mommy's ear sweetie." She spoke to her big girl that was gnawing at her aud roughly and drooling heavily over it. Her little red brute that had turned into a mama's boy had moved to lie between her fores, nibbling now at her cheek and she gave him a loving kiss to the nose. Feeling Kihs licks to her neck then she turned to smile at him, a content sigh leaving the fae.

"Thank you, ma'am. Adorable pups you have there." She nods respectfully to them both then wanders a little to dig a den.
she finds a nice spot and looks back at the alpha and his mate for approval.

He stretches out to enjoy the last bit of warmth that the spring sun spread across the ground as it started to dip below the horizon. He snuggles into his family before looking over at the new comer and chuckles softly watching the fae make her own den and nodded in approval. He went on to slap his fores on the rock, a game he played with the rascals called scare the crap out of them all so that they attacked daddy. It worked every time, they bounced up and playfully growled at their father as they started to clamber over him, it gave him enough space to lick his mates face as his tail wagged happily behind him.

happily, she started digging out a den. She started slow, but gradually grew faster as she looked forward to this new home. She yipped happily to herself about how lucky she was to have stumbled upon these sweet wolves. once she got a space large enough for herself, she snuggled into it and let out content noises as warmth enveloped her body. She feel into a dreamy haze, almost asleep until her stomach rumbled. she slowly pushed out and began her hunt. she decided to get something big to share with her new friends. she snuck around, spying an easy target: a deer with a broken leg. she came up on her prey slowly, slowly... pounce! she got it! she whipped around, snapping its neck, before dragging it to the others.
"Look what i got!" she cheered, hoping to impress her new temporary family.

Mystery laughed softly as her mate scared the little ones with his fores, gently tucking her cold hind pads under his warm belly as she watched her pups attack their Dad, even the littlest girl climbing on him now. Still chuckling softly the faes smile turned shy as her mate turned to her, her audits lowering softly as he licked at her face and she sighed contently once again, murring as she leaned into his loving kisses. Nosing him lovingly she whispered to him quietly. "Love you.." The fae blinked then as her attention turned to the fae, finding she had dragged something to eat back for them. Honestly she hadnt realized she had gone out hunting. The pups started to shuffle over towards the kill, curious now as they hadnt yet seen a whole carcass. Mystery rose to her pedistals, moving to follow the little ones.

smiles at the pups approaching the carcass. then looking at mystery, says, "I hope I am not intruding, i brought us something to eat. boy am i glad i didn't have to run!" smiles at her friends, still aiming to impress.

He had risen as well, walking the opposite side of the pups from where his mate was to ensure that any stumbles were met with a reassuring nose that would set them upright again. He chuckled when he watched them all sniff the carcass wondering what they were thinking and going to do next, he looked towards the fae who had gotten them the deer and his eyes softly closed as he bowed his head slightly with appreciation. His eyes opened to find the little girl giving the same appreciative bow towards Icegaze and he chuckled lightly scooting her forward so she would join her brother and sister.

Smiling lightly at the new femme Mystery shook her crown lightly at her words, the warm smile still held on her maw. "No you're not intruding at all Ice, thank you for the food." The mistress breathed, watching her pups as they sniffed the carcass but didnt get too close to it. Sliding down onto her belly gently she nosed at the deers stomach, finding a tender strip to peel the skin away from before taking the meat in her maw and starting to chew it. It didnt take long for her to be satisfied with how tender the piece of meat was, planning on offering it to the pups. The partly chewed strip held between her canines Mystery set the meat down infront of the pups to see if they would take any intrest in it. Her bigger girl, being the bravest, was of course first to come sniff at it and surprisingly her little girl was second. The little brute was last, sniffing at it and wrinkling his nose gently only to slink over to Mom and nose into her belly, wanting her milk and not the nasty smelling stuff she had offered.

The gray silver regal had his head high watching over his mate and pups, the smell of a fresh kill could bring unwanted guests so he had to be on alert. Having scared off plenty of coyotes and even on one occasion having to kill one it was best to stay alert. Luckily they hadn't run into any bears this season, he chuckles softly watching out the corner of his eye as his son decided he'd rather stick with his mothers milk. His eyes focus back at their task, although his eyes were hardly any good for looking out rather his great hearing and sense of smell it was also a back up in case those two failed him. As his ears moved and his head jerked slightly looking at the sounds to get a good whiff it was more and more apparent to him that spring was soon at hand, the smell of dead wood no longer was the main smell the air held but traces of new growth and melting snow. A few birds in the air sang in the trees and he smiles letting out a content sigh, they had made it through the winter in tact.

The small ebony femme rolled slowly onto her right side for her son so he could nurse, having not taken intrest in the meat she wasn't going to force it onto him, he was still young. His soft suckling noises soon being able to hear as he pressed into his mother. Setting her crown down gently she watched her girls sniff and nibble at the small piece, not really eating and swallowing it but she was proud of them for tasting it and trying to chew it up. The two little black balls of fluff soon joined their brother, having heard him nursing and were now making little fussy noises as they were hungry and didnt want the meat anymore. Pressing into their mother also their own sucking sounds left them and Mystery sighed contently, the sound a comforting one to her. Looking up to her Kih as he gazed off into the distance she smiled to herself and towards him, just realizing how lucky she was to have him there. Turning to the carcass and being close enough to it she ate slowly while they nursed, a soft murr left her.

He could smell his mates affection coming off her pelt, it came in a wave of aromas that was her scent. He smiled softly knowing it was in part due to their pups, whose soft suckling noises now reached his ears and due to him standing guard over them. He was about to turn and kiss her face when his ear twitched backward hearing the light snap of a branch and he turned with a growl in his throat as his lips raised in a snarl, fear made his heart leap that it was another coyote but when his nose turned towards its direction he found it to be the female fox whom he had grown accustomed to seeing over the winter. She or her male counter part always was near when a kill was, they always waited until the wolves were done and heading off before they took what they needed to survive. He relaxed as the growl faded him his throat and he went about guarding them like usual, the foxes kept as quiet as possible with having their six pups with them which was hardly any easy task. Six...he could barely keep up with three, he wondered how they did it but knew that it must be their strong bond and will to survive that kept them alive this winter.

she took a small chunk of meat, noticing all the foxes. kihyah seemed fine though, so she just layed down to eat near kihyah. "hello sir. its a nice day, isn't it?" she asked kindly, loving her new friends and being kinda chatty.

The gray wolf nodded vaguely, not trying to ignore the fae but preoccupied with watching over them all at the moment that his attention was else where. His stomach growled as the fresh kill wafted into his nostrils which flared to take in the surroundings. Noticing the foxes seemed uneasy about having the young ones this close to the wolves but there wasn't much food yet in Yellowstone, that would change soon and they would probably see less and less of them as the days began to warm.

she planted her ears back, watching the foxes, wondering if she threw some meat to them they would leave. slowly, not wanting to scare them, got up and walked to the deer. she tore a chunk of and slid it towards them. it slid over, almost touching the male. "sorry!" she muttered quietly still not wanting to scare them.
