Moving deeper into Yellowstone

It was a dark night, no stars and no moon lit anything so the only things about in the thick woods of Yellowstone were nocturnal. At least that's the way it seemed until a flash of silver moved through the brush, hardly noticeable as a black presence at his side kept him cloaked from any dangers. It was Kihyah and well guessed that his mate was the black form at his side, he held in his maw his littlest daughter and his son and it wasn't an easy move at all. His heart raced as his ears picked up the different sounds of the night, stopping frequently to look around making sure they were not being followed before heading forth again it wouldn't be long now before they were to the spot. He turns to look into the jade eyes he could just barely make out beside him, trying to reassure her along with himself that this was the best thing for them.

The soft black silhouette stuck close to the silver brute as they tredded through the dark damp night. Her eldest daughter held tenderly between her jaws her nares flared, hackles a bit ruffed as the small mistress was stressed as they moved. The silver frame halted and so did she, heart racing silently as her jades scanned the terra intently while her audits twitched. Being the eyes for her Kih it was easy for her to see In the dark, having practically lived in it for years. Once satisfied that nothing was following them she looked back to her mate, shifting on get pads as she didn't like sitting still very long.

Kihyah took her shifting as the sign that everything was clear as far as sight went, he heard a bear shuffle in its sleep to their right so they would be forced to take a bit of a detour. He slides against her moving into her side to show they needed to move off just a bit from the original path, for being blind at night he was exceptionally good at finding his way. Having traveled these woods now for a year it was like he had a gps inside of his thick cranium. The little girl let out a soft hiccup and he had to stop himself from wanting to laugh, when his son starts batting at the girl he scolds the boy with a soft growl to reinforce the idea that they should stay still and quiet. They were close, he could smell the place he had been staking out for a few days to make sure it would be safe, not only was it safe but it ran near the new herd lines of the elk that had returned to Yellowstone making it prime real estate for any wolf family.

As her mate moved into her side she flickered an aud, on autopilot it didn't even take her a minute to respond to his slight nudge into her. Side stepping to her left her orbs scanned over the brush, every now and then giving her mate gentle warnings about things that pureed near his paws and threatened to trip him. Hearing her little girl hiccup the mistress couldn't help but smile, her jades shifting to look over at the two balls of fluff that hung from her Kih's maw. Turning her attention back to their path she went balk to her task of making sure they wouldn't loose their footing. Kih's growls hitting her audits her heart leaped, looking over at him only to give out a relieved snort when she saw her boy acting up and picking on his sister.

With her by his side it didn't take them long to get past the bear, he stops shortly after to sit and bring up a back leg to scratch at the collar that had collected moisture from the cold air which in turn made it itch. His right eye closes as he enjoys the relief from the irritating feeling, it didn't help much but it took the edge off before he rose back onto all fours to start again. The two rascals in his mouth however had settled down realizing that he wasn't going to put them down for the scuffle because he knew that was part of what they wanted, it had been a long trip thus far and just as as they were about to begin to start again they were there. There was near the field of mice he had shown her last spring, he knew there was an old bear den out this way because it was just off one of the paths he marked his scent upon every week. It was completely deserted and he knew that with having the pups with them it wouldn't be long before that place smelled of them. It was carved right out of a small foot hill, obviously dug by the bear that had inhabited it at one point or another visible by the deep claw marks that were faintly still able to be seen in the dirt.

icegaze wandered the oposite direction of her new friends. she wished to find a mate worse than ever now. would such an important male ever show up? she howled and cried for the other half of this broken heart.

The mistress smiled lightly, the distinct scent of mice seeping into her nares. They had almost reached their new home. Her tassel twitching slightly as it began to sway softly, memories of the last time she had been in this field flooded her memory. The fae had been here before finding out she was going to have pups and now they were bringing the little ones here to live. Another memory came to mind, her gold etched jades shifting to look over to her mates form. Mystery just grinned, suddenly in a bit of a playful mood as she nudged her Kih's hind. Getting back on track the ebony fae followed the large silver brute toward their new den, her tassel slowly wagging.

Feeling his mate get giddy beside him he smiled softly, he playfully swatted her side with his large fluffy tassel happy that she was happy. He moved forward, ears bent down and outward to catch all the sounds of the forest floor as he ran following the nose that mapped out thousands of paths he could possibly take. His eyes made sure he didn't trip as he moved swiftly forward as he already wanted to slip inside the safety of the den but as he drew closer started to slow up only to allow her a quick look inside of the den to make sure of its vacancy.

Normally the fae would've nipped at her mates tassel when he swatted her with the fluffy thing but having her girl in her mare she restrained herself. Atleast for the time being. While his audits were perked down towards the floors hers were tilted to the sides, making sure nothing would be able to sneak up in them very easily. Rubbing her sleek petite frame along the brutes in the same playful manner as they ran. Once close enough to the new den she slowed, padding a ways into the dim hole that had been craved out of the wall of dirt. Her jades shifting and nares twitching she yipped to her mate, giving him the all clear sign.

The gray wolf moves into the dark hole setting the pups down next to their mothers leg, immediately the boy was sniffing about the old den. The little girl flopped down, Kihyah turned to look out the dens opening for a brief moment. Then he arched his neck towards his mates face to lick up her cheek, a quick gesture so she would know how he felt about the move. Everything seemed fine, he still knew though that at a moments notice things could drastically change so he turned his attention back to the entrance of the den.

icegaze wandered around alone, hoping that last bit would change soon. she decided to go to the lunar plains to search. she bid farewell to yellowstone, for now.

The sun finally had risen and he lays down, nothing out of the ordinary. The world was waking up, birds starting to sing louder and louder while more and more noises were heard from the sounds of the other animals that inhabited the forest with them. It was a damp and bit cold morning so he snuggled up tightly into the frames of his lover and pups. The air so damp it even left his fur a bit dang so he would dry it with his tongue occasionally to keep the cold away from all of them. The big girl sneezing and he reached his nose out to gently gently kiss hers as he sniffed the area then gave it a lick to clean it. They did not need to be getting sick, he prayed the weather would change and soon. In the meantime Kihyah cleaned the pups mother as his tail thumped heavily on the dirt.

Mystery was still asleep in the early morning and curled up around her pups as they slept soundly beside her also. In her sleep she could feel her mates affectionate grooming to her pelt, her frame leaning into his tender licks every now and then. After a while of just sleeping silently the fae shivered in her slumber, an impulsive sniffle following it as she tried to tuck her hind pads beneath herself further. Her pelt was much thinner then her mates, the cold water droplets easily gliding down the ebony strands of fur only to touch her skin. Having been born in the plains her fur wasn't as resistant to the water that followed these mornings here in Yellowstone. Finally waking with a soft jolt she sneezed just as her daughter had, a quiet whimper escaping the mistress in the process.

Kihyah whimpers softly, he hadn't taken this weather change into account when they moved. He was warm for the time being but he knew it wouldn't be long before he too got cold like the others. He stands moving around her to nudge into her backside, " Get up. We're going." he said trying to push her away from the pups and out into the warming sunshine. " Family outing and the pups can follow, they'll get the idea as we go. They're old enough for that now I believe." he explained quietly as he didn't want the little ones over hearing their plans knowing that if they just left the tiny babes would follow their mother instinctively.

Watching Kih as he moved around her only to nudge her the mistress reluctantly rose up onto her pads, her muscles seeming to,ache from the cold and the movement. Sniffling again she fae shook out her pelt just slightly, stepping away from the pups. She was still half asleep, wanting to lay back down and snuggle up into her little ones again. The ebony fae stuck close to her mate though, pressing up against the silver brutes side.

The large silver brute smiles feeling the fae lay into his side, he stretches his neck the other way to look back at the pups who were quickly realizing that they were being left behind. He chuckles softly as they race to catch up while he turns back to watch their trail, it was a rather slow walk but it was for their safety as a whole the more casual their walk with the pups the more likely they were to stay close at first due to the new surroundings yet pay attention to what was going on around them so that they would soak it in but the key was not to go too slow. Too slow meant pups that would start not paying attention and rough house or run off to play, so he was sure to keep a trained eye on the pups and what was going on around them. He then turned to his mate and kissed her face quickly happy that she was there beside him as well, even though this dad thing was hard he sure was loving every minute of it with her by his side.
