Kihyah Lives!!

The large silver brute thought to be dead lay on a cold metal table, two tubes down his throat and taped to his maw. One for breathing and the other for feeding him, around him were the three humans who had saved his family so long ago it seemed. They had been out that day in search of the pack they had grown fond of just to check up on them, hoping they were still thriving but had come across the grizzly scene of hunters gunning the wolves down. They had been the ones to call in the park rangers for poaching on protected lands and had taken the only wolf they found still alive...the large male that had so interested Susan to begin with. She was in the room with him, sitting behind a desk with a small lamp on. The only light in the room it was starting to make her sleepy, she yawned and leans back in the computer chair stretching only to come back down to scan over the big guys latest EEG. His brain was more then active but he still wasn't waking up, she looked over to the male and thought to herself that not even she would want to wake up to such a terrible tragedy. Her and her staff had tried to locate the rest of the pack, but given the chaos they had fled deep into Yellowstone and the park rangers after a few days told them to leave it be. They were right of course, nature had to take its course but with the brute Susan just couldn't stand back. He was rare, unique and regardless of what had happened to the poor brute she knew in her heart that he would make it. There was something about him, a strong sense of being that just gave her the knowledge that somehow he would pull through this. They had pulled most of the buck shot from him and had stitched him up, but there were some nasty looking scars on him that no fur could cover anymore. When they had shaved him for surgery the first time, she had noticed he had quite a few but none that looked feral induced but instead man made.

She sighs rubbing her eyes before plopping her head down onto her crossed arms sighing loudly, Oh come on ol' boy you just had to pull through. She had a grant riding on his recovery, having gone back to school only to get a grant once they found out the work she had done previously to come and research him further. It had been a dream come true until she had happened upon the nightmare she had witnessed. She peeked up at him, no change of course and stood to stretch out her legs. Walking over to him she gently ran her fingers through his soft fur, leaning on the table next to him.
" Come on boy...you just gotta wake up or the people funding this will pull the plug soon."
As if on cue his eyes started to flutter open.
" Oh you've gotta be messing with me. GUYS GET IN HERE HE'S WAKING UP!!"
Susan was so lost in thought that when the other two got in they started getting the tubes ready to be pulled out, it dawned on her that if they didn't do it soon he'd start to freak out and they didn't need that. Removing both in only a few minutes the large male cried, Susan gently let out soft shushing sounds as she scratched his ears.

Kihyah rises from the fog inside his mind, his eyes start to flutter open only to start looking around the room at the commotion going on around him. He knew these people, he didn't know how but they didn't want to harm him at least that's what his heart was telling him. He licks the hand of the woman who was petting him to soothe him, it was making him feel less scared about whatever it was that was going on to him. A sting in his arm made him growl a little as he looked down to see a pin prick of blood drop out, he leans over only to stop and lay his head back down as it had made his head start to feel like it was spinning. " Take it easy big guy." the male said, he found it surprising that he understood what these odd creatures were saying to him but he felt quite as ease with them so he relaxed as he was told. " God I swear he knows what we're saying." he says, the woman responds in turn. " I've been saying that for quite some time." she looked absolutely giddy, " Oh man I am so bouncing off the walls right now that he's alive! I can't believe it!! Someone pinch me. OW hey not literally..." the other girl who had pinched her laughed. Now he was starting to become a little unsettled, how did he get here...who was he...what was he if he could understand these creatures. Wait wait, slow down. Kih...my name is Kih, he sighs in relief and his tail starts to wag softly letting off a ting ting ting as it hit the metal table.

Susan and the others quickly started to work with him, wanting to get him up and walking as quickly as possible. " Alright there fella lets get you off this table so you can get some exercise, bet your sore after sleeping on that stiff table for so long but it had to be done." he knew what they were saying but he only seemed to understand half of it. They lifted him up at which he squirmed not liking feeling like he was floating and had no footing which caused a big crash and bang before they were all sprawled out on the floor, they were laughing and he panted lightly showing off a big toothy grin. " God is it just me or is he more docile then when we left him." asked the male. " I've noticed that too, no in our faces or growling...wow you'd think he was house broken." they all laughed at that and Kihyah barked at them playfully slowly and quite unsteadily getting onto his paws as his urge to play was starting to kick in. " I think he's wanting to play." they started backing off and Kih couldn't figure out why, a good game of rough housing never hurt anyone. He pounces for the woman and screams were sent up, but then she giggled as he licked all over her face something of a playful thank you as he somehow knew that she had saved his life. " Definitely not the same wolf..." said the man, " But it is...look at him clearly same markings same family we found him in...what could trigger such a change though..." said the other girl, Susan had no problems coming up with a solution fast. " He doesn't remember anything except bits and pieces...think about it, he obviously knows us right? Otherwise his first instinct would have been to kill us, but I don't think he remembers who he is or anything about his past." she says trying to push off the large wolf that was now pushing into the back of her knees.
" God could you imagine?...wait, I just had a thought...what if we can show that wolves are trainable? Especially this softy of a monster, it would change the entire worlds perspective on wolves...man we'd definitely earn that grant money." Susan nodded in agreement, " Alright first thing tomorrow, we'll begin his training. For now lets get the guy an actual meal."

Paragon sniffed around. There was thing wierd thing that seemed to be manmade. He growled in hunger and smelled three humans inside the wierd thing. Wait, but there was a wolf in there enjoying whatever treatment they gave him. Maybe they were giving him food! He walked in and tensed. There was an injured wolf with the humans' food! God, was he really that lucky? Paragon walked up to the humans and barked, then gestured to the food.

Susan jumped when the other wolf made its presence known, the other two humans backing up and Kihyah quite unable to do anything but turn his head in an awkward position to try and see the stranger.
" I thought you guys locked the lab up for the night...and how did a wolf find its way all the way out here?" she asked curiously before she sighed and hit her forehead with her palm.
" I bet its from one of the other experiments, check and see if its got those micro collars while I get it some food and water. Poor thing looks starved." she said, after turning her attention to the fae she went back to observing the male and the stats that were reading out on the chart before walking around to write them down. He didn't like the new wolf, which was understandable if his memory was completely wiped.

But while they were at it they collared and tagged the new arrival, putting her in a cage not to far from the brute on the table but far enough that there wouldn't be any howling back and forth. Or at least that was what their goal was.

Paragon growled, he did'nt like getting locked up

The three humans quickly backed away once they had gotten the other wolf in the cage, " Nice ain't he? Probably from one of the other sectors where they're testing how long a wolf will go without food before it goes after human flesh." said the man, Kihyah turned so he could somewhat see the other wolf.
" That true?" he asks the wolf, curious as to what they both were doing here having no indication as to where here really was. He then watched as the woman called Susan fed and watered the other male, " Well my humans are friendly." he wagged his tail letting out that ting ting ting sound again as he did. " They'll fix you up real nice they will. Why just look at me? I must have been a real mess before they found me....don't ask me what happened, I haven't a lick of an idea of anything 'sides my name. It's Kih by the way, what's yours?"

Susan rolled her eyes at the large male obviously making conversation with the strange wolf, she sighed his instincts and reasoning about the human world were gone. His knowledge of his mate was gone, that was what hurt her the worst. The couple had been so happy together, three pups and a wonderful life all nothing to the brute. He would basically have to start all over again, that she chuckled he seemed to have no problem doing as it seemed he was attempting to make some kind of friend. She wrote in her journal, it was an interesting point that instead of being completely shy to the wolven community he seemed unabashed and willing to step out into it again. Of course he would be introduced to wolf packs that were within the confines of the sanctuary just to be on the safe side.

Paragon smiled. " nah, not true. I wandered from Yellowstone and smelled food here. My names paragon, what do you think they'll do to. us?" paragon nodded at the humans. "well, i better go and sleep, its very late." he lay down in the cage. He growled at the cage

" Yellowstone..." he repeated, something in its name seemed familiar but it was like when one forgot a word and it lay at the tip of ones tongue only to be elusive to the one wishing to remember it. " Hmm, not quite sure where I come from but these folks seem awfully nice. They gave you food and water, that contraption looks uncomfortable but I'm sure it's for your own good."

The female Susan sighed, the brute she had before her didn't much seem like the one they had come across earlier. She wondered if she had mixed it up, perhaps in her efforts to find and capture the elusive one she instead by chance took one that only resembled the original. She laid her head on her arm only to sigh again, her eyes became heavy and soon she fell asleep while listening to the large silver male regain his strength.

Paragon woke early the next morning, that rattled the bars of the cage. He slid his tongue over the bolt till it came off. He'd spent quite a while figuring it out. He padded outside and stretched, then started exploring. Finally he found the food cupboard. He pried it open and helped himself, wondering whether he would get into trouble.
he burped contentedly and licked his lips, the nudged the human in the chair. he lapped up some water then nosed kihyah. "hey kih... wake up! c'mon, rise and shine!!" Paragon laughed and nipped him. " get up!!"

Kihyah slowly woke, his eyelids becoming unstuck from the sleepy goop in his eyes. He had slept hard and saw the other wolf out of its cage it was then his head came up quickly and his eyes focused instantly. " What are you doing!?" he said in a harsh whisper, not trying to be mean he was just worried about what these humans would do about such an event and didn't want to get in trouble himself. " You should get back in that thing before they find you..." he says looking towards the woman beside him who was slowly starting to stir from her sleep as well. " Quick!" he barks, it caused the womans head to slam on the counter and she stood to rub at her forehead. Kihyah tried to distract her as best he could but it was no use, she saw Paragon out of the cage and she instantly reeled back with a bit of a scream.

Susan had woken with a bang to her forehead, having gotten a cold nose to the face and then a loud bark from the large silver brute. She rubbed at the spot before she finally realized the other wolf was free. It forced a scream out of her and she quickly clapped her own hands over her mouth, thinking perhaps that wasn't the smartest idea because what if it attacked out of thinking she was going to harm it. She shook on the spot as she saw the clock, no one would really be in at this time unless they had come in early or one of the security people were nearby otherwise she was on her own face to face with a potentially dangerous wolf. Oh god, she thought to herself, please protect me and at that very moment the large silver male moved as if to protect her from the other wolf and her heart seemed to freeze in her chest.

Paragon backed away, he did not expect the humans to be so startled. he backed away again and wagged his tail.

Kihyah shook out his head, " You shouldn't be out of that thing...they'll get mad." he said but the female human just moved past him to reach a hand out towards Paragon. " Be nice to her." he growled a little, he was rather protective of the human because he knew she had saved his life and he had formed a bond with her that he would protect with his life if need be. " She's not like the others, she cares about us." he said flatly trying to make the other wolf understand.

Susan seeing the wolf draw back and wag its tail was a bit puzzled by its behavior, even though she knew it was stupid and dangerous she moved past the large brute who tried to protect her and reached out her hand. It was something her father had taught her growing up to do to dogs she had just met, he had told her that once they had her scent they would know she was nice and not going to hurt them. " Please don't bite me.. I only want to help you.." she said quietly as if any loud noise might shock the wolf into reacting badly which she knew could be the case if the wolf felt threatened at any point and at that point she really hoped she wasn't making a big mistake.

paragon nodded." okay." He sniffed the woman's hand and walked forward towards the woman, wagging his tail

Kihyah watched the two interact until he soon got distracted by a different human who was standing near the door watching Susan and Paragon with frozen fear written all over his face. The human sighed and Kihyah barked at him to leave them alone which apparently the human was more then willing to run off in what looked to be fear and panic. He then felt a hand scratching his ears and he rolled to his side to enjoy the nice scratching only to hear Susan laugh.

Susan slowly pet the new wolf and was glad to be faced with another wolf like the big silver male who was so friendly to humans. She heard the silver brute bark and thought without looking that he just wanted affection too so she laughed, " Alright alright I'll give ya some love too." she said reaching over and scratching his ears for him. She felt him move to lay down and corrected her hand position so she could continue to scratch his left ear. Then she realized this was something she needed to write down right away, " I'm so sorry to do this fella but just like my buddy here you need to be at least kept locked up somehow..." she said moving to grab a collar that was attached to a chain that was solidly bolted to the floor. " Easy now, I just need you in this so I can get to work..." she said moving towards Paragon to get the wolf at least contained otherwise her fellow scientists would freak out again and lock the poor thing in a cage.

Paragon panted happily, then rolled onto his back.

Kihyah looked over in time to see Susan slip the collar around Paragons neck, then she left them to sit at her desk. The silver male not much interested with her anymore scooted forward to look over the edge at the other male. " She's pretty neat huh?" he asked wanting to know the other wolf's opinion of his human friend.

Susan, slipped the collar around the males neck before jumping up to sit in her desk. She pulled out a different research journal to label it first for the new male she now had a keen interest for, she watched as the two wolves seemed to interact with one another through body language and wondered exactly what they were saying. Her wrist getting sore from all the writing she was doing she shook it out a few times before continuing, one of her theories now becoming that perhaps Yellowstone was making the wolves too comfortable with the human presence there and maybe that was why the wolves were acting so friendly. Of course now she'd have to test the theory and she had the perfect subject, she stood to leave the room in search of one of her unwitting colleagues.

"sure! you're lucky to have a nice human. sometimes i wonder what's going on in the minds of humans. some kill us, some try to live like us, some make our lives miserable, putting us on exhibits and some are like the human here." Paragon sighed. "i guess i'll never know."

Kihyah smiles as he listened to the other male, he didn't know to much about humans other then the female here and that he somehow could understand their language. " Well if I knew how to talk like them I'd ask, all I can say is I understand what they're saying...well most of the times, like I know when she's talking about me or food, just basic things and I seem to pick up on it rather well although why...I'm guessing I've lived around humans for sometime now it's really the only explanation I can come up with." he tells the other wolf, " You seem to know a lot about humans, have you always been here?" he asks curiously and if the male wasn't from here he was curious to know what the outside world was like.

Susan found an intern and quickly snatched them away from their project, " I need to test a theory...have you worked with wolves before? It doesn't really matter, you'll do fine." she reassures the scared looking female before she pushes her into the room with the two wolves who seemed rather distracted with one another. " Now all I need you to do is attempt to pet them." Of course the intern looked at her like she was crazy but Susan was used to getting those kinds of looks now a days, when she had gotten the grant to find the big silver brute they had looked at her with skepticism but she never allowed how other people felt to distract her from her goals in life and she wasn't about to start now. " Well go on then, they've been good with me and I have a going theory that the lifestyle of living in a sheltered area such as Yellowstone is making them less wild and more domesticated...if that's the case we need to know so we can tell the rangers there that people are getting to close to wolves...perhaps even feeding them which as you and I both know is against federal laws to do..." she rambled when she was excited about something, the intern now clutching her clipboard was slowly approaching the wolves.

paragon turned to Susan only to find another human approaching. Alarmed, he backed away and growled.

Kihyah reacted as well, the growl had sent a wave of anxiety over the large male and in turn he tried to get up. Things started to crash down around the floor which in turn only frightened him more, he had managed to get the table to start falling to the ground and he was strapped to it now which he hadn't noticed having woken up only just moments ago. These 'humans' had apparently tied him down but for what use? he yipped and whined as things just crashed all around him plus the humans were in a stir too which only caused more fear to bubble out of the frightened male.

It wasn't long before everything turned to chaos, the other wolf was not at all liking the new female and the large silver male she so loved was now freaking out terribly. " Out, get out!" she yelled at the intern who was already fleeing the scene. She was already heading for the big brute, " Easy there big guy..." she said giving off a few shushing sounds to try to calm the beast but he was thrashing something awful, so to make sure he didn't hurt himself on the instruments that were sharp and laying rather close she quickly found some sedatives and administered them into his rump. She looked to the other wolf hoping it wouldn't get the wrong idea and try to protect him from her, she raised her hands to show she didn't mean any harm. " It's okay...I just put him to sleep..." she turned to the hall, " I NEED SOME HELP IN HERE!" she called out still her eyes remained on the other wolf as his behavior she wasn't so certain of anymore.

Paragon squealed when he saw Kihyah get put to sleep, then calmed down when Susan raised her arms. Paragon strained towards kihyah and licked his ear, trying to wake him up. he panicked again and started tugging at the restraints, then started whining at Susan. "let me out!"

Kihyah had felt the prick to his rump only to then fall asleep rather quickly, it was weird how sudden it was and that all he saw was the edges of his vision get black like he was looking through a tunnel at Paragon before black out and then sleep.

Susan started giving directions to the two friends who had finally come to her rescue, " Help me get the big guy unstrapped...I have a theory..." her friends rolled their eyes.
" Susan, no more of your theories sedate the other one or we will...look at it, it's terrified it'll be better just to-"
Susan cut him off, " No! Listen it seems the two are friends if we just move the big guy near the other maybe he will realize that he's only asleep. I'd rather not use sedatives on a wolf we don't even know can handle them or not...we had already used them on the big guy but this one, could be allergic we could run the risk of harming it and if you both remember we're not in the business of doing that."
The two sighed and did as was told, Susan was busy cleaning up all the harmful tools that had been scattered about the room so neither of the wolves could harm themselves.
" What do you want us to do with the big guy? Leash him?"
" No. Leave him, he seems harmless."
" OH no..we are not going there Susan. Wolves are dangerous, period. The boss would fire us all if you just did whatever you want. He's going on a leash."
" Fine put him on a leash but make sure the two are close enough that the other can see he's not hurt."

paragon made a beeline for Kihyah, then realised he was asleep. breathing a sigh of relief, he headed for Susan and barked playfully, then turned to her shaking colleagues.Paragon found that he was getting bored, so he started nudging their feet, urging them to play.

[color/cyan]Thalia growled uneasily. she had left her den to search for her brother, but she had traced him here. she yipped and whined as she scratched at the metal door.[color/]

Kihyah would be asleep for at least a few hours from the sedative, which he probably needed anyways still having just recovered from a gunshot wound and all.

Susan laughs and her colleagues looked uneasy about the other wolf, " Where did he come from?" the female asked.
" Not sure. I thought he was from another part of the facility but I emailed around and no one seems to know where he's from...you don't think he could have gotten in here by mistake do you?" she asked them both.
The male was the one to answer, " I suppose it's possible. We haven't seen the big guy for a long time now, maybe it's a member of his old pack who tracked him here."
Susan shook her head, " I don't think so...otherwise why wouldn't his pups be here? We never found any other bodies besides his mate."
An alarm rose up in the place and Susan looked upwards, " What the heck is going on now?"
" Not sure. We'll go check." the female grabbed the others arm and pulled them out.
Susan looked down at Paragon and smiled seeing his playful nature had returned, she went into the room next to hers to fetch some water and food for the male wolf realizing she hadn't given either one of them food or water yet.
" Sorry about the wait. I'm sure you're starving." she says setting the food and water dishes down then sliding them carefully closer to the other male as most wolves were rather food aggressive in nature.

Paragon walked towards Susan and while he was a little annoyed at his food being in Susan's hands, did not growl and instead accepted the food. he emptied his bowl and smacked his lips. Suddenly, he picked up the scent of a female wolf. it seemed so familiar... His eyes flew wide. Thalia! Paragon hurtled towards the metal door of the lab and squealed. After he gave up using his head as a battering ram, he dragged Susan to the door and whined.

Thalia rammed her body into the metal door, then started scrabbling at it. Finally, she gave up and started barking the house down.
