On the Edge

Melody yelped as the water splashed nto her face. Deciding she'd had enough of spashing, she pulled herself to the bank, still laughing, and shook out her fur. She made sure to sprinkle Sander with as much water as she could.

Not to be outdone, Melody again shook out her now-soaked fur. She was tempted for a moment to push Sander back in, but she let the though slide, as it was quite honestly still to early in the morning for much more.

"That was fast," Melody snorted. It had been a little fast, as far as tracking a rabbit goes. She wondered if maybe Sander had a nearby cache of already hunted prey or something. But... the rabbit was warm. "Thanks, I guess."

Melody lay down, and tore into her rabbit, watching Sander out of the corner of her eye.

Melody snorted again, and finished her rabbit. Then she stood up, and padded to the waters edge, bending down for a drink.

Melody dipped her paw in the water a short time, and rubbed the rabbit off her face. Satisfied she was clean, she turned to Sander.
"Alright then, what will we do today?"

Melody burst out laughing. The surprised look on Sander's face was absolutely priceless.

"I think we should go explore a little," Melody suggested, as she padded past Sander. "How does that sound?"

Melody made her way through the lush greenery, sniffing around. There were many new scents here that were good.

"So, Sander. Found anything around here you like?" Melody asked.

"Wow, that sounds really cool!" Melody replied. "It may be too late to see them glow though. We could still go to the cave, and see the crystals."

Melody inclined her head.

"I guess it's up to you though."

"Did you not just hear me?" Melody sighed. "But yeah, sure."

Melody began padding back to the waterfall, and sat there, waiting for Sander to catch up.

Melody growled as Sander passed her, her competitive side trying to kick in. But, she restrained the urge, as she followed him over the slippery rocks. Her paw did slide one time, but it was a quick recovery, so no damage done.

Now, she sat next to Sander, looking inside the cave.

Melody gaped at the crystals in the cavern. She brushed past Sander, as she padded a little deeper into the cave. She put her paws against the wall of the cave, as she reared up, touching her nose to one crystal. Then, she dropped back to the ground, and sat, facing Sander.

"This was truly amazing," Melody nodded at Sander.

Melody snorted. Of course it would get cold. It was wet stone. Though, she would much rather stay outside in the open, rather than confined in a cave.

"Well, this place was most certainly nice," Melody commented, as the sun rose higher, and the light faded out of the crystals.
