A Journey Home

Kihyah was rather hesitant to allow the stranger into his pack, " You're not much to look at..." he says more mumbling to himself then to the male. He looked rather skinny for a male his age, not very muscular at all nor did he seem like he would hold much of any quality that they would need. Jumpy and skittish, yes respectful but he wasn't sure the wolf would fit in properly and he much didn't want to have to spend time on getting to know if he would or not due to Mystery being there. Having been interrupted during a private loving moment with her hadn't left him in the best of moods at the moment, especially since the male was now reminding him of all the work he had to do yet today. He secretly wished his mate would come with him but if she headed back for the den he would understand. " Ugh...very well...understand you're not really on my list of favorite wolves right now but if you are interested in a pack I suppose then you could stay around and get to know us....NOT saying you're part of the pack. I just want to see how you intermingle, so far you're off to a bad start." he grumps, his gruff voice not pleasant and his irritable tail swings conveyed just how upset he was that his moment with his mate had been ruined. " Now...talk with us for awhile, before I have to get back to marking out my land. I mean do you just pick any pack you happen upon or don't you want to make sure you'll fit in too...cause you do realize that's probably why your first pack didn't work out..."

"Well sir, in the mountains there was a human settlement not too far from where my pack had stayed. I was off exsploring to see if there was any food sources. But when I came back they were not there, but I could smell the humans plus gunpowder." Jeaunu looked troubled as he said this. "And i do not just pick any pack, I want to be apart of one where I can be usefull to everyone."

Kihyahs tail flicked slightly behind him but not as irritable anymore, the wolf actually did carry some gahonads after all he thought to himself. " Well then I suppose you'll have to prove your worth then...I have no idea what you're good at." he says, there would be no talking about what he had said about his last pack. Humans were disgusting creatures that thought they owned mother earth, we knew better instinctively knowing how to live with the land and not just on it. Besides hearing such things brought up memories that were best left in the past. " There are seldom humans that walk across my lands but I have marked where to stay away from." he was correct, there was one spot in particular that remained bare of his scent. It stunk of humans and their garbage, the nasty odor from their cars sent any wolf clear from the 'roads' they had built through the lands as well. His ego would've liked to say that the humans stayed in their spot due to his powerful smell, not wanting to tango with him but he knew it wasn't the case. " The humans don't come here, I am uncertain as to why but this land is somehow protected from them. So you can rest assured that you are safe from such things here."

Jeaunu let out a sigh a relief, "you have no idea how glad I am to hear you say that. i want to be useful here and I want to prove to you that I am capable of contributing to this pack" he looked every bit determined to prove himself.

Mystery listened to the two brutes talk, her crown leaned against Kih with her orbs closed as she was tierd already and guessed it was just the fact that her body was changing for the pups and that it wore her down. Her tassle curling around her hinds she licked her nose once softly before she fell into a very light sleep. Her orbs opened softly whenever Kih would even shift or say her name but it only took her a few seconds to fall asleep again.

Kihyah sighs feeling his mate fall asleep, he blinks softly as he lays his maw across her neck. " Then for your first task for this pack I want you to go hunting. Bring food for all three of us, as for my mate and I we need to head along the scent line. Once you have finished hunting come back here and we will circle back around to help you carry the prey back to the den. We'll see your skills, however I wouldn't recommend trying for a deer...you're likely to be killed taking it on alone." he tells the male wolf before he'd squirm on his paw pads whining and whimpering to his mate wanting her to wake badly so they could spend the rest of the day together alone like he had wanted.

Mystery woke quickly feeling her Kih squirming underneath her and her eyes fluttered open before she looked up at him, blinking the tired feeling out of her orbs. She whines to him then, having heard his whimpers and she tilted her crown to him wondering if something were wrong.

"I can do that." Jeaunu runs off, sniffing the air to try and find food. He come upon an open field and starts to sniff around to see if anything is nearby. Suddenly he picks up a rabbit scent and slowly starts to make his way toward the source. He then sees a couple of rabbits eating the tall grass. He waits and then leaps out toward them, grabbing one and punching an artery with his teeth and quickly runs and catches another on my the tail and shakes it untill its neck snaps. He brings that one back to the other that was killed and goes to find more food.

Kihyah raises his frame up and away from her before circling around himself once whining long as he clacked his teeth together. He was desperate to get moving again so they could be alone, his urgency to claim the lands and do it with her shook his body. He looked almost cold but it was just his anticipation to go with her, his whimper turns into a loud bark as his tassel starts to wag behind him.

Faye walked on and on until she saw the rushing water of the creek.She crouched in the brush careful not make a sound.Soon enough a little head popped from the ground.It was the head of a hare.The hare looked all around for predators,then after not seeing any it hopped out.Once the hare was a few feet away from it`s hole Faye decided it was time.SHe bolted out of the bush,hopped into the air landing her front paws on the hare.It was a risky way to hunt but it worked.Her jaws clenched the hare and squeezed suddenly.SHe opened her mouth for it to drop out.Faye gobbled up the hare quickly leaving only the the unedible parts.Faye slunk back in the edge of the forest awaiting more prey.One large buck came in but it would be stupid for a wolf to take it on alone.Faye sighed and rose from her spot.She would try to find the Alpha and Alphess.

Jeaunu continued to look around the spot for more food, he had already gotten the two rabbits but he needed another. He crept through the tall grass, and after search for a good 20 minutes he found another rabbit just sitting by its hole. Jeaunu crouched down and waited to pounce. After the rabbit was far enough from its hole, Jeaunu lept and grabed the rabbit by the head and bit down untill the neck snapped. Takeing it in his mouth he went back and got the other rabbits and reterned where the alpha and his mate were.

As Faye got closer and closer to where she remembered the Alphas laying she began to smell a strange smell.The smell of an outsider.She quickened her pace to confront this wolf.Faye was positive the pup was safe and full so that was one thing she didn`t have to worry about.Faye howled of her return so she wouldn`t surprise the Alpha and Alphess.

Mystery smiles as she watches her mate wait impatiently for her to join him and she does so, touching her nose to his and smiling warmly before she heard Fayes howl and whined softly, not wanting to be found at the moment at she rubs her muzzle against her mates nape lovingly.

Kihyah grumps a little as he hears the others approaching quickly, he hides his face in Mystery's neck whining softly to her as he pushes softly against the nape in an affectionate nuzzle. Since they would be joining them shortly he would take what time he could fetch for themselves, he licks gently at her pelt after while a few cleaning pulls across her fur before he returns to nuzzling into her neck with his own, a heavy murr vibrating his chest.

Jeaunu comes through the field with the rabbits hanging from his mouth. He walks over and places them before Kihyah, "Did I do good?"

Faye walked through the bushes and saw the Alpha a Alphess.SHe wagged her tail in joy."The pup is fed and safe,it is now resting in the cave."Faye told Kihyah and Mystery.Then she turned and saw the brute with rabbits hanging from his mouth.Faye raised to lips to show her glistening white teeth at the male."Who is he?"She growled.Her hairs pricked up on her spine.

Kihyah moves away from his mate for a moment, as he walked past her he rubbed his silver full winter pelt along her ebony one his warm rolling murr fades softly from his larynx. His eyelids flicking open as his moon colored iris' constricted around his pupils to take in the brilliant light to sharpen his vision down to see them both before himself. He sits promptly on his hinds as his tassel swings around his right hind pulling with it some of the fall foliage that was starting to make a new layer for the ever refueling compost that fertilized the rich forest soil. He took in a deep breath to address them both, " Jeaunu is his name...he is interested in joining our pack...but that's of no importance right now. I'm glad you are BOTH here. The rabbits are excellent but it will not feed the entire pack, I want you to go out as a team and take down a deer. Should be rather easy if you can find one that's sick or injured. Bring it back here if you get one...if he wants to be one of the pack I want to see how he fits in with ALL of us." he says looking towards Faye as he explained his reasoning for pairing the male with her, in no way did he expect anything out of her then to just go hunting with him. She didn't have to like him one bit, but they did need the food so it would help him do both at once. " Now...my mate and I are going to mark up these scent lines don't follow us along my lines, walk parallel to them on our side. It will help re-enforce at the same time that there is indeed a pack here." he says and then watches to wait for them to leave and do as they were asked to do.

Jeaunu lookes over at Faye, "Well, lets go!" He then starts to walk off then he looks back to see is Faye is following him. He saw the size of those deer and it would be good that he would have help.

"Fine",Faye grumbled.She walked up to his side and passed him.She raised her nose to the air.SHe smelled many things like,wolves,rabbits,bears and deer.But there seemed to be the strongest scent of deer westward.SHe started in that direction at a jog careful not to make a sound.If it was a buck they would be unable to take it down unless it was old or injured."Follow me,I`ve caught a scent!"

I see that Faye got a scent so I start to run after her toward the scent. Adfter a few minutes of running we creep over to a spot and see a couple of deer just grazing

I crouch low in the bushes trying to figure deer was the weakest.THere were three does and one buck.The buck looked strong and healthyTwo of the females were lively and alert,but one was just kinda dull.Her eyes showed no happiness.There was sort of a white glaze over them.Her ears and tail drooped.Perhaps it was sick.Faye had never seen a deer like this.Fa ye pointed with her nose towards the weaker one.Faye softly whispered that she would try to lock her powerful jaws around the doe`s main neck artery while Jeaunu did whatever he could.SHe waited for him to make the first move.

After watching the two depart Kihyah chuckles softly shaking his head, he turns and starts yipping merrily at his mate as the banner at his back waved joyfully back a forth as he playfully galloped forward before spinning around on his hind quarters to bark now at her. He had solved the problem of them having to mark the line and waited to be off with her. He turns and starts forward knowing she would be up after him quickly, only taking a few steps to raise his leg and mark another spot along the line.

Jeaunu spots the doe that Faye pointed out, and it did look sick. Almost sick enough that they could get it. He crouched down realy low and tried to sneak closer. As he did the deer did not move, it just stood there totally unaware. He waited to the right time, then he lunged at it and knocked it on its side. He took one of the legs in his mouth so it would not be able to get up and he barked at Faye.

Faye darted out of those bushes like a bullet from a gun.SHe went straight for the neck where the main artery was located.Her teeth dug into it without a problem.The doe kicked out her legs and flopped her head around a couple times before it was still.By now the other deer were long gone and it was all silent around them.The deer blood dripped from her lips.Faye smiled at their victory.

Mystery had giggled softly as she watched her mate yip and bark at her and she bounced over to him before he galloped playfully away a ways. She watched as he barked to her and once her started moving again she quickly bounded up behind him to nom at his left aud lovingly while he marked the scent line. She wouldve marked with him but she wasnt sure if she should or not, it would instantly tell strangers that she was expecting pups and could be a possible easy target at times or it could be a keep away sign in a way as Kih's scent would be right beside hers to say it was his litter and he was there to protect it. She shook off the thought for a moment figuring she would just wait for Kih to say something about it as she nommed his audit happily.
