Starting to name the pups...

The brute turns and licks his mate softly, the brute was only following the elk as every lone wolf did when they didn't have a family to stop them from roaming the plains with the prey. But he wouldn't exchange his pups for anything so just to be safe that they didn't get in the way of any stampede he directed them in a new direction. His pace was quickened as he wanted to get out of that particular section as quickly as possible. " Let's move.." he says to them all in an encouraging tone.

The pups were the first to actually move towards their father, slowly slinking out from under the tensed ebony mistress. Other than her right audit twisting to listen to the soft footfalls of her pups as they followed their father the femme barely moved, her jades still flickering between the trees as her hackles still stood on end. Her sons quiet whimper was what broke her trance, blinking and looking down to find her little red ball of fluff staring up at her. Sighing to try and relax the fae relaxed her hackles slowly, leaning down to kiss her boy gently before finally moving to join her mate at his side.

The silver male turned and licked his mates cheek feeling the tension her muscles still held from the encounter, her motherly instincts had gripped her and he couldn't blame her with everything they had just been through. " You alright my love?" he asks her in a soft murr, watching as the pups start to slowly get a bit braver and head out just a bit up ahead of their parents. They made little noise as they explored the new smells with one another, more interested in the new scents then anything else, they still looked back every now and then to take cues from their father slowing up enough that they almost caught up with the babes.

Nuzzling into her mates side as he licked her cheek the mistress nodded softly to his question, "I'm fine babe.." she breathed gently before rubbing her crown into his neck softly. It had been a long time since they had scented each other and she wanted to rub herself all over him, cover him with her scent to reaffirm that he was hers and she was his. Her frame relaxing a bit more she found herself slowly gliding her tongue along his audit and down over his jaw and neck as she walked along side him.

He nuzzles into her as he continues their walk with her and the pups, normally the pups were always right in between them so the space was much appreciated so that they could get rid of it and just show their love for one another as they walked. His ears flicked back as he heard a noise, he shrugged it off as the wolf who was after the elk and decided maybe they should quicken their pace. Taking the hint first the little black girl started forward at a marching pace where as the little girl turned around and continued her trek for a ways with her brother who all of a sudden sprinted forward barking once which was just enough to get his siblings to start after him. Kihyah groans and sighs moving as he shook his head to start after the little ones so they could close the distance.

Hearing snapping out in the distance her own auds had twisted back to listen for a moment, turning her crown to scan the trees behind them for a minute or two as her brute picked up the pace slightly and she easily stayed on his heels. By the time the fae turned her head back around her son was bounding off to chase something and her girls were quickly following him. Glancing over and seeing her Kihs expression she chuckled, kissing his aud as they trotted forward and whispering to his in a soft tease. "This was your idea.."

He chuckles softly about to answer when a large brown bear crashed through the trees, the pups ran as it made for them all except the boy who now of all times decided to sit and bark at the ominous creature. Kihyah's body finally responded and he lunged forward after the large grizzly bear, he knew only two things it was either sick or it was just protecting its young which must be close but either way he had to stop the predator from eating his son who was now facing down a paw when he decided it was time to run between the giants legs towards his mother. The bear half turns when Kihyah is finally past his son and near the creature, his hair on end as he growls with a nasty snarl trying to ward the bear off not sure what its intentions were at this point.

The faes heart seemed to stop as the beast came into view, staring up at it for a moment before her instincts kicked in again. Hackles on end and audits lied back against her skull cap as she moved to catch her daughters, grabbing the bigger girl up in her maw before the little one came bounding over. Taking the two up it only took the faea moment to find a hollow log that she could fit the small pups into. Quickly placing them in the hiding spot away from the bear she just gave them a simple look and they got the point. Stay. Turning towards her mate who was distracting the large brown predator hee jades scanned the terra for her son, finding him darting through the beasts legs towards her and she growled lowly, sprinting forward only to grab him by the nape and dart back towards his sisters. Setting him down inside the log with the girls she lowered her auds as she looked down at him before moving away and barking toward her Kih, letting him know that she had the pups and they could just get out of the creatures way. But of course it wasn't that easy... the stranger lunging at the thing the mistress snarled, now he had just irritated it and ruined everything.

The bear now distracted with the other wolf who had lunged upon the creature gave Kihyah the opportunity to move over to his family. He grabs up the boy in his maw, the first pup in the entrance being the last pup in he turns to Mystery to give her the hint they needed to move them to safer ground while they could. He sprints away with his son knowing that his mate would follow as soon as possible, stopping only after he had put fair enough distance between himself and any sign of bears to instantly turn looking eagerly for his mate.

Mystery shifted uncomfortably on her peds, almost pacing along the log until her mate joined her and she calmed a bit. Watching as he grabbed his son in his maw then looked towards her she took the hint as he darted off, taking her girls in her maw and making sure she had a good grip on them both before she too took off away from any threat. It didn't take long for her to catch up with her Kih, easily slipping up beside him as he had stopped to wait for her and she perked her audits up towards him, waiting for him to decide what to do next.

He gives her a lick to the cheek, " I'm going back to make sure the stranger made it out safely. He did distract the bear after all." Kihyah says before he rises to his peds to start back towards where they had the encounter, " I promise I'll come back." Then he turns and takes off swiftly through the woods before another word could be said about it and so that none of the pups could follow him. Once he got closer however he slowed himself to try and assess the situation before making his next move.

"But babe~" The mistress had started to argue but she didn't get the chance once he had darted off through the brush. Sighing she looked down at her pups, they looked so confused in their little eyes and she just leaned down to nuzzle her snout into them all. "Come on.. lets go home.." The fae breathed to them, lifting her crown slowly before she started off towards the den, knowing it would be best to head back. Starting to trek forward she could feel and hear her pups at her heels but one was missing. Turning and finding her littlest girl looking back towards where her father had disappeared the fae slowly slinked back to kiss her on the crown. The pup looked up at her with sad eyes and the mistress lowered her auds. "I know sweetie.." She mumbled to her, leaning down to take her by the nape before heading back for the den once more with the other two pups close at her side.

Finally returning to the site he finds nothing, no bear and no wolf as though nothing had happened but the brush that was all broken from where the bear had attacked was a tall tail sign. He lowered his snout and sniffed the ground trying to locate the two hoping it wasn't too late to save them both, he wasn't sure the bear was sick and didn't know if there were cubs around. If the wolf did kill the bear off he would have to abandon the cubs or kill them, neither of which he felt like doing that day so he trekked through the woods to try and find them. Their scents seemed to be headed back for the elk, now it became clear to him it was just a hungry bear that wanted the wolfs prey and had stumbled upon the family. He raises his head and looks over to where he knew the elk lay then back to where he left his family, making up his mind he returns to his family it wasn't worth the risk he didn't want the elk and if the wolf couldn't leave the bear alone for the kill then it was his own hide he risked and not the silver brutes who had a litter of pups who needed tending. He trotted off towards the spot he had left them in not wanting anymore to do with either the bear or the stranger.

Making it back to the den she sent her daughter down near the entrance, moving to lie just barely inside as the pups rough housed just outside the entrance. Sliding down onto her belly the fae laid out in the sun and watched her little ones, the sun quickly warming her inky pelt. Settling her crown upon her fores she watched as her older girl and her son wrestled, soft playful growls being heard between yips and barks. Her youngest pup, uninterested in playing at the moment, came over to lie next to her mother, sprawling out against one of her fores. Looking over the mistress lolled her tongue out across her daughters matching pelt, grooming her affectionately while she watched the other two and while they waited for her father to return.

Kihyah didn't find them where he had left them and searches for any sign of them, finding his mates scent he scurries on ahead realizing it headed to the den. Their walk some what ruined for the day it was okay he just wanted to get home to his family when he caught another scent that made the hair along his spine raises on end and he growls. He moved swiftly trying to locate the predator that had slipped under the radar. He moves quietly still quite a ways off from the den yet he knew what the trespasser wanted because it was tracking his family or at least that was the direction it was moving in.
