| Vita sat unmoving, his expression unreadable, as he glared at the newcomer. He said nothing for a long while, almost as if he had ignored Sephera's question. At last, he spoke up. "He can stay..." He paused. "But I'm watching you." He nuzzled Sephera in the side and turned toward the den to eat.

| Sephera was torn between which to go to. She could go to Vita, whom she believed she loved. Or she could go to Lunar, the stranger she should get to know sooner or later. Heaving a sigh, she finally decided.
She went with neither. She walked over to the lake, looking at her reflection. Her fur was darker, her eyes brighter, and she wanted to call herself beautiful. But it felt like a mask. Like she was pretty on the outside to lure wolves in, but her inside was tainted and dark.

| After a short while, Vita left the den to find Sephera. He had harshly judged the newcomer and he wanted to apologize to Sephera first. She was out, standing by the lake, staring into the water. Vita knew exactly what she was thinking, almost as if he had read her mind. As he silently moved up beside her, he nuzzled her. "You are beautiful inside and out, he whispered into her ear. | |

| Sephera jumped at Vita's sudden appearance. He was so silent as he walked up to her, that she didn't notice. When he nuzzled her, it made her heart skip a beat in shock. She calmed herself enough that she could hear his words. They were so sweet, she looked over at him and met his gaze. She leaned against him, closing her eyes. "How did you know i was thinking about that?" she whispered to him. | |

| Sephera was shocked when Vita appeared, but she recovered quickly. She asked him how he knew what she was thinking. "Your eyes betray your emotions," he gazed down into her reflection in the water, realizing that what he had just said was not the reason that he knew what she was thinking. "Have you noticed that after..." he stopped to think. "That... 'messenger of the moon' wolf came along, we seem to be able to feel each others' emotions? In the den, I felt self-pity. when I came out here and saw you, I knew exactly what you were thinking. You are a great wolf, and don't ever think otherwise." He gazed into Sephera's eyes and waited for a response.

| All of Vita's words stunned Sephera. First, when he told her that her eyes betray her emotions. She had tried so hard to build up an emotionless wall so nobody could tell. She was thinking that over, wondering if maybe Vita just knew her that well, so his next words didn't process at first. When they finally did, her gaze snapped to his. "W-What?" she choked out. Then she shook her head to clear it. She cleared her throat before continuing. "Sorry, i was just surprised. I've actually noticed that as well... i felt your sadness as i told my life story, felt your tiredness as it got late in the night, everything." She took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. "I apologize for bringing you into this. I didn't mean to."

| Vita pressed close to Sephera to comfort her. "We're in this together," he whispered, and really, they were. He was sure that if Sephera and Vita weren't with each other, and had found some other wolves, They would still somehow find each other. This whole 'daughter of the moon' thing wasn't just her, Vita was part of it. He gazed towards then den. "Come on, let's get some sleep," he said as he nuzzled her and headed off towards the den.
(She says she's ready now, I told her to give us some time to sort things out. Btw I just realized that Vita would be the son-in-law of the moon... Lol)

| Sephera couldn't help but feel relieved when Vita didn't say anything related to wanting to leave her, or never be part of this connection thing. His words touched her, made her smile even, and she couldn't have been calmer at that moment. It was like all the stress melted from her body, thanks to one guy in her life, and there was only calm with a twinge of sadness left. She could only hope that would be sent to Vita as well. He seemed kind of deep in thought.
She yawned widely as she followed him to the den, wishing to nuzzle him in return for nuzzling her. Their relationship was almost... playful, or teasing. It was fun and yet relaxed, easy. She trotted into the den behind him, almost forgetting about the stranger. But their was little room in the den, and it was Vita and her home.
(My posts are slowly getting longer... :3 But okay, that works! Think we'll wiiiiiin? ERMERGERD. You're so right :D)

| (Would you guys mind if I join you? I can definitely move this to a new topic if you don't want me here. =] By the way, I'm assuming they went to sleep and it's morning, so again if this isn't cool with you I'll change it or leave. ^^)
If there was only one thing of which he could have knowledge of, he would choose his cognizance of prey patterns. He considered himself a master in the science of population control, but not in the art of acting on it. He was small in stature, though why this seemed to matter to others of his specie confounded him. It was the bite, not the eyes, or the tail, or the ears, or the show of fangs that should determine one's first impression on another. Therefore, with his slight size, he has always found himself at odds with what he wishes to do. Should he try to take down that doe, with its sharp hooves and kicks of thunder? It would bring down the rest of the herd, he would tell himself, but alas he could do nothing. It would eat a mouthful too full of grass, it would starve a young hare mother, it would kill the hare's young, it would starve a lone fox, it would steal a meal from a coyote and a wolf, it would save a young fawn's life, it would leave less grass for nourishment, and then the cycle just gets worse and worse and--
Stop. Look. His rust-rimmed ears pricked forward, body still as a hardened mineral composite. Nostrils flared, scenting the moist atmosphere. A territory, belonging to others of his kind. He knew this far behind where he now stood, but he had to move because the hare populace in the fields were beginning to thin. Surely they would understand the predicament he was placed into? It would be what he would do, but not all wolves were the same. He didn't have to remind himself of the atrocities that can arise with some.
But these were not like them, he knew, he could sense it. The term "you can feel it in your bones" never appealed to him (after all, how can you perceive things when you're using your bones as a sensory organ?), but it would apply here. He thought that he had picked something out from the other, more indistinguishable, noises in the woods with his hearing, but it had now gone and he couldn't begin to comprehend what it was. His ghostly eyes could not see anything. Satisfied for now, he started back on his trek towards the shore of the lake that he knew lied in this place.
It was times like these, when there was nothing that crossed his mind to ponder over that he drifted to his disliking (hatred is a very strong word, and should not be taken lightly) of the color of his pelt. His saturated red-brown coat, with his cream markings refused to blend in any situation. In the day, his red contrasted the green of the grass, the leaves, or the blue of the sky and water. At night he stuck out like a flame in liquid. And his irises never seemed to stop "glowing" (really, it was more of a reflection of light against the skin of his orbs than of true self-luminescence) in any event.
Then, in his mind ramblings, the pad of his inner left digit on his right paw sunk deeper into the earth than it had its last step. He focused his hearing, and he could sense it: the sound of cool water brushing against damp soil. Then he saw it, the mere in all of its splendor as the first morning rays seeped between the treeline. Across the living liquid he could see the burrow of a large mammal, which he then deduced to be the owners of the region. Ignoring them, he stepped up to the edge of the lake and drank, keeping the rest of his body out and away from the water. He would have to wash his paws later, he was sure, but that could wait until he had quenched his thirst and his appetite.

| (I think so, with 3, well, 4 now, wolves against 2. We are slowly building an army ;D I've noticed that my posts get shorter over time... :\ And yes, Wildwind, you can join. HAI I haven't talked to you in forever. I forgot to tell Edme, but Vita and Sephera have this connection of the soul thing. She is the daughter of the moon or something, I can't really explain it, so I guess I'll leave it to Blair?)
Vita had been lying in the den, motionless but awake, thinking about this whole daughter of the moon thing. It was strange, he had never had any sort of hints in his past. Also, how could a wolf be the daughter of the moon? And that messenger was the strangest part. He had kept catching glimpses of him in dreams that he couldn't remember since the whole thing had started, but he blew it off like an annoying stray pup. Maybe there was more to come?
Vita's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of some creature walking around outside. He guessed it was Riley, so he stiffly stood up and slowly made his way to the entrance to the den. He was going to apologize for his aggressive behavior yesterday, he had only acted that way because he was afraid that the loner might betray their hospitality and attack them. As he poked his head through the entrance of the den, the sight of an unfamiliar wolf lapping up water from the lake jolted him awake. He silently backed into the den and nudged Sephera to awake her. Without giving her time to awaken, he whispered into her ear. "another loner on our territory. I'll confront him, come outside as soon as you can." He just as silently slid out of the den and into the clearing. Without waiting for the loner to finish drinking, he barked. "What do you need stranger?"

| (Your posts do not get shorter over time. Mine certainly do, though. :P And hullo to you, too! *Waves*)
The water here tasted more pure than in other places he had drank from. He supposed that there were less organisms with which to pollute the lake. But that made no sense, for he could clearly see the form of a large catfish shift beneath the surface. Perhaps the natural substances in the mere just gave the illusion of purity, trying to lure its visitors to stay: drink. Live. In any case, the red male could admit to himself that it was a pleasant change in flavor.
He could see, from the tops of his vision's threshold, the movement of what he presumed to be one of the canine inhabitants of the district. Keeping his sight lowered, he continued to drink his fill; a stranger was no reason to halt any serious actions you may have been performing, especially one so important as hydrating yourself. A sudden bark, signalling the start of a confrontation. He moved his ears forward to listen. After all, it was rude to ignore someone while they were speaking to you. Or so he had heard. He honestly did not care one way or the other.
It was a soft breeze that brought with it the smell of not only the fair-pelted one before him, but also the clinging scent of another. A female, from what his olfactory sense was telling his brain. A friend, maybe, or a sibling. Or a mate. She was probably still inside of the den. His outward appearance showed no signs of his mental processing, his facial expression blank.
"What do you need, stranger?" Water. The life-sustaining liquid of which he was drinking from. Meat, also, but that was not as obvious. The blue-eyed wolf lifted his head, now, swiping the leftover fluid away with his tongue. He focused his eyesight on the male (he concluded that he was, indeed, male, from both the heavy width of his shoulders and the deep tonation of his voice) before pointing his head back toward the false-purity that was the loch. Again, he viewed the white wolf with the black markings, having shown him what it was that he needed.

| (Ohai xD I am Blair, and i'll try to explain as much as i can without giving away some future RP things ;D But basically Sephera had this dream and a white wolf called her the "daughter of the moon" and told her to howl with Vita. When she did, a special bond formed. They can sense each other's emotions and even read each other's thoughts if those thoughts are strong enough.)
Sephera was captured in yet another dream with the white wolf. It stepped forward to her, its paws not making a sound in the soft field they were captured in. The sun was setting, casting a soft glow across the tall grass. The field seemed endless, so there was no chance of escaping and hiding from the wolf she had grown to dislike. She doubted she could fight the male, he would easily beat her by the look of his strong stature and broad chest. Finally deciding how to reply to his advance, she pressed her ears flat and lowered her tail. The wolf chuckled.
"Relax darling, I'm not here to fight you," his melodic voice made her gaze rise to his, and he had a soft charming smile on his maw. Sephera's body relaxed as he told her to, and her tail rose to its normal placement. Her ears perked up, wanting to capture and remember the wolf's voice.
"What do you want with me?" she asked, her voice sounding far away and small. The wolf grinned, his eyes lighting as his tail began lazily wagging.
"I want to tell you that-" his voice morphed into the familiar voice of Vita. "another loner on our territory. I'll confront him, come outside as soon as you can."
Sephera's eyes blinked open, quickly focusing as she stood and shook her coat. She head Vita call out to the stranger, and slowly emerged from the den. Her coat looked soft, her eyes light, and she looked across the lake at the stranger. Her gaze held curiosity and her ears were up. She looked young, and beautiful.

| (Lol Ww, when I read 'waves' this came into my mind. By the way, Lanrox, we are honorable fighters, we won't kill you :]) The new wolf perked his ears when Vita barked. This wolf seemed pretty respectful so far. In answer to his question, the loner glanced toward the lake then back at him, and Vita nodded and relaxed. Lunar suddenly appeared from the lake and growled, but Vita glared at him shortly. He sent the silent message, "I'll take care of this." He hadn't been that friendly to Lunar when he first appeared, and he was aiming to change that this time. In a friendly gesture, he sat and began to speak. "Drink your fill, we have plenty of water. The forests are flush with prey, we can accommodate for another wolf for a while." He glanced back toward Sephera, who had sleepily emerged from the den, waiting for her to approve or disapprove. | |

Sensing Vita's gaze, Sephera tore her eyes away from the stranger. Vita gave her a look, which she translated into asking if she approved of the stranger. In reply, she gave a minute nod and walked closer to his side. Her fur brushed against his, and even that small contact made her whole body relax. She believed in any of his decisions, and she would follow him anywhere if he wanted her company.
To stretch, she rocked back on her hind legs, extending her front legs (like a cat stretch :P). A light groan fought its way out of her at the aching in her muscles.

| (Hullo, Blair. =] Nice to meet you. @Pen - Haha, cute. xD)
It was not long before the rest of the pack showed themselves. First was the female, but another moved from the lake and made a low growl with his vocal chords. He had not even noticed the other, male, scent lingering in the air, but now that he knew it was there he could not help but smell it with every inhalation.
The amount of his kind in the area made him a bit nervous. He had not realized just how many there were, or else he would have been more careful. A drink he still would have had, certainly, but with more caution. His legs fidgeted slightly, watching the males interact. A stern look, a beck of understanding, and the defensive (aggressive? Either were probable) sound was gone. The pale Alpha Male (his dominance was obvious) lowered himself to a sitting position, but for what reason he didn't know. It was early in the morning, so he could be still somewhat lethargic if he had not received much sleep during the night.
He did not pay much heed to what the wolf was saying, though he was still listening. Instead, his focus was on watching the female travel to stand beside him. She had given a nod, but for what, he did not know. He never did pride himself on the fact that his comprehension of body language was not very adept. Moving his eyes back to the face of the lead male (never the eyes, though; he learned that the hard way), he gave a terse nod at what he supposed was the appropriate time for a reply.
When the other wolf moved, he did not blink in an obvious sign of acknowledgement. However, from the corner of his eye he could see the strange stripe that reminded him of the markings upon a skunk, and the sight of it caught him by surprise. The male looked so daft hiding beneath the rippling water that he could not help but turn his head in puzzlement and stare.
This grouping of canines (discluding himself) was very peculiar, that was assured.
